John Lewis Christmas advert 2013 review

John Lewis Christmas advert 2013

Personally I think it is no surprise that this year’s John Lewis Christmas advert ‘The Bear and the Hare’ directed by Elliot Dear and Yves Geleyn was by far the most talked about Christmas advert. It held over 212,000 mentions on Twitter, compared with 38,000 for Sainsbury’s ‘Christmas in a day’ and 37,000 for Marks & Spencer’s ‘Magic and Sparkle’, the idea behind this was to present the image of 'seeing christmas for the first time'
The advert itself was creative and I thoroughly enjoyed watching it; however the advert itself failed to advertise any of the John Lewis products which I think would’ve made the advert slightly better, not even the clock at the end was an item of the company.
'Somewhere Only We Know' was sang by Lily Allen and reached number one and remained in that place for several weeks.
In my opinion this is the best advert John Lewis has made, because the message was 'The gift of giving'

M&S Christmas TV advert review

Marks & Spencers Christmas advert 2013

This is the advert for the Marks & Spencers christmas range,
Personally i didn't like it, because it didn't interest me and didn't make me want to go out and purchase any of the items.
However, the idea behind it is good, because it is creative and i like the idea of changing from Alice in Wonderland, to Arabian Nights, to Wizard of Oz.

Pfizer 'Graffiti' commercial review

Pfizer 'Graffiti' Commercial

This is an advert for Pfizer, which is a company based in America. It is the world's largest research-based pharmaceutical.
This specific one of many moving, emotional and touching the company have produced.
The storyline basically presents a young a teenage boy, who at the beginning is shown looking suspicious and thug like, but enters his home and gets glares from his family, he then walks upstairs and meets his sister who is clearly very ill. He then walks towards the window and opens the curtains, a huge grafitti display is presented on buildings opposite the home, the message on the building reads 'Be Brave'.
The commercial stood out amongst others because the message was good, the message was 'sometimes it takes more than medication' which is true.
